Hi, I'm Peter

My score of 36 on the ACT was a key factor in getting into MIT. But that 36 did not come to me easily. In fact, my first score was a respectable- but not elite- score of 1430 on the SAT, and it took many hours of intensive and strategic studying to get where I wanted to be. Having lived the journey from good to perfect score, I am uniquely positioned to help similarly motivated students acheive their elite goals.

I started tutoring 8 years ago, shortly after acheiving my 36 and discovering my natural talent and passion for teaching. I founded the Free Standardized Test Tutoring club at Greenwich High School to provide high-quality tutoring services to underprivileged students. With my private clients, I helped numerous students acheive elite SAT and ACT scores which aided their admission to top universities.

I studied mechanical engineering at MIT, attaining my bachelor's in 2023 and my master's in 2025. I now work full time in New York City as an energy engineering consultant, with limited hours available for tutoring.

My Approach to Tutoring

I combine a simple and streamlined approach of consistent review problems and expert level in-person review sessions to solidify learning.

Persistant practice: I believe that the SAT and ACT are measures of work ethic more than IQ. Therefore, there is no substitute for high-volume, focused practice. I assign my students consistent practice sections which focus on their weakest areas first. I consider the official SAT and ACT practice books to be the gold standard, and will typically assign two practice sections a week, with occasional full tests to accurately simulate the testing experience.
In-Person Review: I firmly believe that even in the digital age, there is no substitute for face-to-face teaching. I travel directly to my clients to provide the highest quality in-person review sessions. I have a gift for making difficult concepts easy to understand, and my years of experience have taught me the most effective tips and strategies for every section.
Mutual buy-in: I work best with intrinsically motivated students who are trying attain their fullest potential.
